We are writing to urge you to support Scott White for State Representative in the 46th legislative district.

As a respected professional in state and local government, a community leader and a grassroots organizer, Scott understands what it takes to build a coalition and pass legislation. 

Scott strongly supports Washington's LGBT community on the issues that matter and has a proven track record on passing civil rights legislation:

• As Senior Policy Staff for the Metropolitan King County Council, Scott wrote and facilitated the passage of Ordinance 14823 requiring businesses contracting with King County to provide the same benefits to domestic partners as made available to spouses.
• As Chief of Staff for the Metropolitan King County Council, Scott played a lead role in the passage of Ordinance 15399 updating the definition of sexual orientation in county code and to gain the critical private right of action for persons who believe that they were discriminated against in employment and public accommodations to go directly to court to seek a remedy.
• Scott believes in marriage equality and is ready to fight to ensure that all citizens receive equal protection under the law.

While Scott has been a strong supporter of civil rights and LGBT issues, it should also be noted that he has extensive professional experience working to negotiate and pass legislation on a variety of important issues.  Scott has worked with both Democrats and Republicans at King County and in Olympia to pass multi-billion dollar budgets, build major capital projects and secure funding for critical human services and increased transportation capacity for our region.

An award winning grassroots organizer, Scott is the former Chair of the 46th District Democrats.  During his five year tenure as Chair, Scott doubled the membership, tripled the budget and increased activism by the organization.  For his work, Scott was honored as "Chair of the Year" by the Washington State Democrats and "Democrat of the Year" by the King County Democrats.

Open legislative seats in "safe Seattle districts" come along only once in a great while, and we want you to know that Scott White is the best person to represent the 46th legislative district!  The citizens of Seattle and King County deserve a new legislator who will fight to ensure that all citizens are treated equally under the law.  We also need a legislator with the experience and temperament to build coalitions to pass balanced budgets, protect our environment and ensure a vibrant economy.  However, Scott needs our support in order to do this critical job.  Please make a generous contribution right away.
